Compare Guided and UnGuided Transmission Media

In this lesson we will learn how to compare Guided and UnGuided Transmission Media. With that, the difference between the types such as Twisted Paid Cable, Coaxial Cable, Radio Waves, Satellite Communication, etc are also considered.

Unguided/ Unbounded communication is wireless transmission. The cables such as twisted pair, coaxial, etc are of no use for wireless transmission. It comes under the Guided/ Bounded/ Wired Transmission Media. To exchange bits of data for laptop, notebook, smart watch, without wires, you need wireless communication.

Guided media is a wired transmission media, in which data signals are guided along a physical path i.e. within a wire. Guided transmission media is also known as Bounded or wired. Some well-known Guided Transmission media includes Twisted Pair Cable, Coaxial cable, fiber optic cable, etc

Let us compare Guided and UnGuided Transmission Media, with its types, such as Unshielded/ Shielded Twisted Pair Cable, Coaxial Cable, Microwave Transmission, Satellite Communication, etc.
